Shipping/Delivery Info
I ship via United, American and Delta Airlines. Just to give you an idea on the rates - most puppies 8 weeks to 4 months or so will ship for a flat rate of $300 with United & American. If I have to ship with Delta, I will have to check their rates, they are usually about $65 higher ($365). The price includes the airline charges, kennel for shipping with dish, blanket and and vet examination and health certificate. If the pup is over 6 months then it will require a rabies shot which is $18. These prices are subject to change.
As of Feb 7, 2011 - I will only accept deposits/payments via Postal money order, Paypal (3% will be added for their fees) or Walmart moneygram and balance or full payments in the form of Cash, Paypal, Postal Money Order or Walmart Moneygram. No more personal checks, Ever! (bounced checks are major stress and I'm just not doing it anymore). When paying through Paypal I will send you a money request and 3% will be added to cover the Paypal fees.
For sales made in Kentucky I have to charge 6% sales tax, not my choice but this has been forced upon me by Kentucky State Revenue Dept. I don't mind giving you my tax number if you would like to verify this.
As of 2013 I no longer allow people to come to my home to pick up or buy puppies. So far everyone has been very nice and understanding, but one person recently got very ugly with me. Please understand my reasoning. It even got to the point that my children didn't want me raising dogs anymore because they were afraid for people coming here. I have allowed people in my home for 14 years. In the past three years I have had a very valuable, irreplaceable item stolen from my home. I have been put in very uncomfortable situations by people showing up uninvited that wanted to trick me into leaving them in my house alone while I went to get puppies for the to "look at" with no intention to buy. I have had people mistreat my housedogs to the point of getting bit. I have had people come straight from the animal shelter into my home and I prayed they were not carrying parvo virus on their shoes. I have had several people bring their grown dogs and let them out on the property and this is highly upsetting to the shelties especially.
People may tell you or you might read somewhere, "if you can't tour the kennel and dogs then the breeder has something to hide". This is the furtherest thing from the truth. Just call a couple of insurance companies and ask them about home owners insurance if you are a dog breeder. Some places will not even give you coverage. I was told by my insurance company NOT to take people into my dog area. And taking people in the kennel just upsets the mother dogs. I have had mothers stomp their puppies to death and some of them will continuously pack their puppies around in their mouth til they kill them. It's just not worth any of the risk for a bad outcome and I can only ask that you please understand. I don't want my kids, my dogs or myself stressed out when all this can be avoided.
And if you still don't understand, just think about if you were advertising something for sale on Craigslist for example, do you let these strangers in your home? Would you want these strangers in your home if your children were home alone and you weren't there? The majority of the people I have sold puppies to have been wonderful people and a lot of them I stay in touch with even after the sale. But when you first contact me and want to see or buy a pup, I don't know who you are, so its no different than advertising something for sale on Craigslist, for example.
